Tristan's journey began in 2014 in Northern Virginia when he stumbled on the glass blowing community on Instagram. On a recommendation, he watched the movie Degenerate Art and it was game over. He ordered his first torch before the end of the film! With no idea how to proceed, he conducted extensive research and pieced together a studio in his parent's garage during his final months of high school.
While completing his Associates Degree, Tristan was presented with a six month internship opportunity in Louisville, KY. Taking the knowledge gained in KY, Tristan moved back to VA where he rented a studio in Sperryville at the Oldway Arts Center, highly respected in the glass community. His knowledge expanded as he interacted with artists working with varied mediums there. Most notably, owner Eric Kvarnes shared traditional glass blowing techniques which Tristan incorporates into his work.
Tristan's current studio is located in The Plains, VA where he creates beauty in unique borosilicate glass art. He shares his passion for glass with students who take lessons from him. His studio is his happy place where he feels most at home and can tap into a creative flow state.
